Genealogies of Moanalua
Analu Josephides, genealogist and Executive Director of the Reverend Joel Hulu Mahoe Research Center will bring the genealogies of Moanalua to life. Analu will discuss the history of ownership of the ahupuaa of Moanalua and the families that lived there. He will also discuss the research process, resources available, and methods for documenting your own genealogies.

The Art of the Hawaiian Saddle
This demonstration will be conducted by David Fuertes, master saddle maker, rancher, and former agriculture teacher at Kohala High School . David and his students are dedicated to bringing back the vanishing art of Hawaiian saddle making. Participants will learn about the uniqueness of the Hawaiian saddle and observe the traditional saddle making process.

The Art of Kapa
This hands-on workshop will be conducted by Kawai Aona-Ueoka, kumu hula, kapa maker and artist. Kawai is the founder of the Kapa Aloha Perpetuation Association. Participants will learn the process of kapa making as they experience stripping wauke (paper mulberry), soaking the bark, and then beating and stretching the kapa until the surface is smooth and ready for printing.

The Art of Hawaiian Dyes
This demonstration will be conducted by Lani Yamasaki, Hawaiian cultural practitioner and artist. Lani will talk about how different Hawaiian plants are used to produce various color dyes. She will address the medicinal and multiple uses of Hawaiian plants.

The Art of Featherwork
This hands-on workshop will be conducted by Aunty Mary Lou Kekuewa and Aunty Paulette Kahalepuna, foremost masters of the ancient art of featherwork. Participants will learn the significance of this exquisite art in Hawaiian culture and have the opportunity to make a feather lei or another feather item. A $25 charge will be assessed for supplies.

The Art of Lei Making
This workshop will be conducted by Marie McDonald, noted lei maker, kapa maker and author, and her daughter, Roen Hufford. Participants will learn the principles of gathering plant material and lei making techniques. A list of required supplies will be sent with confirmation letter.
