Kaiwi Nui, a member and Alakai Lua of Pa Kui A Holo, will demonstrate three of the most symbolic activities performed by a group of koa (warriors) during Festival Intermission. Under the instruction of Dr. Mitchell Eli, Olohe Pookela, Alakai Kaiwi Nui will direct the I Ka La Hiki Ku, a challenge Haa, the Kui Molokai (a striking and kicking Haa), and Mahau. Laakea Suganuma, a member and Olohe Aiwaiwa of Pa Ka Lua Hawaii, will provide one of the most extensive weapons display ever seen in Hawaii. Crafted by Suganuma, the weapons are authentic replicas of those used by ancient koa Hawaii. The collection is of museum quality and rarely shown in public.
